ABA Honored With Gold Stevie® Award for Disaster Video
Surviving a Disaster: Are You Prepared? recently was named best Security/Safety video at The 10th Annual American Business Awards in New York City.
David F. Bienvenu, chair of the ABA Special Committee on Disaster Response and Preparedness, accepted the trophy, nicknamed the Stevie for the Greek word for “crowned.” The New Orleans lawyer who survived Hurricane Katrina was featured in the seven-minute video about the need for all lawyers, particularly those in small and mid-sized law firms, to plan for disaster.
Video of Bienvenu’s acceptance speech can be found here.
Produced by the ABA Communications and Media Relations Division, the video profiles sadder-but-wiser lawyers who shared their stories in an attempt to make believers out of anyone who thinks “it” could never happen to them. In his acceptance speech, Bienvenu thanked Gary and Nettie Blume of Tuscaloosa, Ala., who were buried in the debris of their law office when a tornado struck in 2011; and Christine Crilley of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who was unable to access client records—many of them washed away—when her law office and most of the downtown businesses were flooded in 2008.
Agility Recovery, an ABA Member Advantage Company specializing in business continuity solutions, was honored with a Silver Stevie® Award for Management Team of the Year.
