ABA Launches National Task Force with Dallas Hearing on Stand Your Ground Laws

Local government officials, attorneys and victims’ advocates discuss the impact of Stand Your Ground and Castle Doctrine laws on the criminal justice system at the first of four national public hearings for the _’s National Task Force on Stand Your Ground Laws during the ABA Midyear Meeting in Dallas.

The hearing, hosted by the ABA Coalition on Racial and Ethnic Justice, on Feb. 8 featured testimony from Craig Watkins, district attorney of Dallas County; State Rep. Garnet F. Coleman, District 147; Nicole Knox, Law Office of Nicole Knox; and Warren Seay Jr., law student, Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.
